13 Crazy Movie Pitches That Would Have Ruined 2015
13. Mrs. Doubtfire 2
The Pitch: Robin Williams dons the fat suit and old lady make-up once again to play hilarious nanny Euphegenia Doubtfire, who is of course single father Daniel Hillard in disguise. A previous suggested plot involved Daniel following his daughter Lydia (Lisa Jakub) to college to keep an eye on her, though by the time the sequel's development was again confirmed in 2014, the passage of time had of course put the brakes on this particular concept. What Happened?: Williams' suicide last August stopped the movie completely in its tracks because, quite rightly, what would the movie be without its iconic lead star? Given that Williams reportedly confessed to friends that he didn't really want to do the sequel and was just taking a paycheque, it's safe to say that the movie's non-happening (but not Williams' death, of course) was for the best. The project was set to start shooting in late 2014 or early 2015, likely for a Christmas time 2015 release, but it wasn't meant to be. For one, how could they possibly recycle such an absurdly outlandish plot, especially with Hillard's kids now being grown up?
