13 Crazy Movie Pitches That Would Have Ruined 2015

12. Aaron Cross & Jason Bourne Team Up For Bourne 5

The Pitch: Super-agents Jason Bourne (Matt Damon) and Aaron Cross (Jeremy Renner) cross paths for the first time on-screen, teaming up to take down an inevitable government force trying to wipe them out. What Happened?: Numerous plots for a fifth Bourne movie have been bandied around since the Renner-starring The Bourne Legacy opened to mixed reviews and a decent if unremarkable box office. The main plot was one which would see the two protagonists from the Bourne franchise teaming up, given Damon's higher-profile star status, which would surely boost the box office to astronomical levels. Despite considerable industry interest in getting the idea to cinemas by the summer of 2015, it was eventually scrapped in favour of separate Bourne and Cross movies set for the future. Bourne producer Frank Marshall later confirmed that there would be no team-up movie. It's just as well, though, because while it's a big money idea, Damon would probably just spend the whole movie upstaging Renner, given his comparative truckload of charisma and how much more interesting and likeable Bourne is than Cross.
