13 Cringe-Worthy Movie Moments That Completely Ruined Great Songs

7. Tiptoe Through The Tulips (Tiny Tim) - Insidious

Looking back at Tiny Tim's Tiptoe Through the Tulips, it's difficult to imagine we ever thought of it as a flighty, fanciful song about...exactly what it says in the title. However, in James Wan's surprisingly effective horror hit Insidious, the song is used to palpably terrifying effect when Renai (Rose Byrne) goes outside to take out the trash and notices a boy moving about inside the house. Then later on, when the movie's Darth Maul-like demon is sharpening his claws in The Further, we hear the music again. This is a textbook and very clever example of taking a perfectly innocent song and re-positioning it for a new generation: what was once a genuine, happy song is in today's cynical world nothing less than a creepy ode to the creatures that keep us awake. Try listening to this song late at night without your heart rate climbing.
