2. Natalie Portman Overacts Herself To An Early Grave - Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith
The Scene: Padme (Natalie Portman) gives birth to Luke and Leia, yet after assuring Obi-Wan that there's still good in Anakin, she dies by "losing the will to live", suddenly passing out and dying on the operating table. Why It Sucks: Granted, George Lucas really gave Portman little to work with here, given that Padme was a strong character in the previous movies and was completely gimped by the end of her tenure in Episode III, but even so, she really phones it in here. Straight out of the Marion Cotillard school of heavy breathing and head nodding, Portman's attempt at dying is only slightly more convincing than Lucas' reasoning for it happening in the first place. Between this and "Anakin, you're breaking my heart", it's unsurprising that Portman struggled to find work afterwards. It's a huge, huge moment for Star Wars fans, and though Lucas catches a lot of the blame, Portman's immensely stagey, over-the-top work in what should be a tender, tragic moment totally misses the mark.
