13 Crucial Death Scenes Ruined By Terrible Acting

3. Nicolas Cage Shouts At A Man Burning To Death - Knowing

The Scene: Professor John Koestler (Nicolas Cage) is caught in a traffic jam when a plane falls out of the sky and crashes in front of him. John runs to the wreckage to try and help survivors and is immediately met by a man on fire running away and screaming. John simply shouts, "Hey! Hey!" as the man disappears out of frame, and (presumably) dies. Why It Sucks: Sure, this is a very well-directed single-take scene, but this poor man's grim fate is rendered laughable because a) there's no reason why the guy shoudn't be rolling around on the wet floor and b) Cage's casual "Hey!" to a man who is literally burning to death. What does he expect? The guy to turn around and have a chat with him as the flames lap away at his flesh? It's not a well-written line by any means, but Cage's delivery is both terrible and extremely amusing.
