13 Dumbest Movie Plot Twists Of 2018

4. Charles Wallace Gets Possessed - A Wrinkle In Time

A Wrinkle In Time Charles Wallace
Disney

Disney's live-action dud made the bold if ultimately misguided third-act decision to have protagonist Meg's (Storm Reid) adopted younger brother Charles Wallace (Deric McCabe) become possessed by the movie's shadowy antagonist, The It (David Oyelowo).

It's never fun to dunk on a child actor getting their break in the industry, but young Deric McCabe struggles to convey the necessary menace as a possessed Charles Wallace, his high-pitched villainous monologuing instead proving unintentionally hilarious.

Naturally Charles Wallace is ultimately saved by the power of love, but even so, from a production and casting standpoint, trying to make the audience fear this pint-sized kid was a doomed effort from the start.

Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes). General video game, TV and film nut. Occasional sports fan. Full time loon.
