12. The Origin Of Han Solo's Name - Solo: A Star Wars Story

Solo: A Star Wars Story may be rife with ham-fisted fan-service nobody really asked for, but nothing in the film produced more global eye-rolls than the wildly unnecessary explanation of Han Solo's (Alden Ehrenreich) name.

In order to evade capture, Han enlists in the Imperial Army, and because he signs up with no last name, the Imperial Officer registering him gives him the surname "Solo" because he's alone. Solo. Get it?

If you're gonna pull out pointless explanations for things audiences don't really need explained, at least make them clever or charming. This just came off extraordinarily lazy and got the movie off to a bad start.
