9. There Will Be Cringe-Worthy Romance

An unfortunate excess in The Last Jedi was the rather lame romance between Finn (John Boyega) and Rose (Kelly Marie Tran), because this is a Disney blockbuster and their execs apparently don't believe in platonic relationships between men and women.

Rose saving Finn from his suicide run and their subsequent smooch is surely the film's most eye-rolling moment, and fans should probably expect this romance to flourish throughout Episode IX.

Fingers crossed Johnson will take note of the irate fan response to the love story and tone things down in the next film, but because pretty much every big-budget tentpole needs their shoehorned romance, it's probably going to be more prominent than many would like.
