13 Gloriously Hammy Performances In Comic Book Movies

11. Jeff Bridges (Iron Man)

€œTony Stark was able to build this in a cave! With a box of scraps!€ Until that beautifully overwrought line, Jeff Bridges is unremarkable as Obadiah Stane. It€™s not difficult to pick out Stane as the villain of the piece, and Iron Man rightfully spends its time introducing Tony Stark rather than misleading us about a character who€™s known as one of Iron Man€™s earliest enemies in the comics. The character is fairly flat until, out of nowhere, Jeff Bridges cuts loose on an unsuspecting Stark Industries employee, who barely manages to stand up while Bridges shrieks in his general direction. Bridges also relishes Stane€™s monologue about his overlooked work for the company, which is of course delivered while smashing up vehicles in the giant Iron Monger suit. Quite why Jon Favreau felt that voice modification was necessary in that scene remains a mystery, because if nothing else, Bridges proves that he sounds more terrifying without it.
