13 Hollywood Stars Who Voiced Favourite Studio Ghibli Characters
11. Joseph Gordon-Levitt - The Wind Rises
Who was given the honour of voicing the lead character in Hayao Miyazakis last ever feature length film? Jo Gordon-Levitt, thats who. The Inception and 50/50 star was cast as Jiro Horikoshi, a real-life aviation engineer who designed a number of iconic Japanese war planes, including the timelessly bad ass Mitsubishi A6M Zero. Miyazakis farewell biopic is not his best film, though it could be the most beautiful, with luxurious shots of the real Japan in the post-war period and enough eye-popping air-born action to keep the old guard happy. Joseph Gordon-Levitt makes good use of his range playing Jiro as the talented designers passion for all things flight becomes intermingled with the hell of war.
