13 Hollywood Stars Who Voiced Favourite Studio Ghibli Characters

11. Joseph Gordon-Levitt - The Wind Rises

Who was given the honour of voicing the lead character in Hayao Miyazaki€™s last ever feature length film? Jo Gordon-Levitt, that€™s who. The Inception and 50/50 star was cast as Jiro Horikoshi, a real-life aviation engineer who designed a number of iconic Japanese war planes, including the timelessly bad ass Mitsubishi A6M Zero. Miyazaki€™s farewell biopic is not his best film, though it could be the most beautiful, with luxurious shots of the real Japan in the post-war period and enough eye-popping air-born action to keep the old guard happy. Joseph Gordon-Levitt makes good use of his range playing Jiro as the talented designer€™s passion for all things flight becomes intermingled with the hell of war.
