13 Huge Mistakes That Are Killing The MCU
12. What If...? Is The Worst Thing In MCU History
With this one, the actual 'What If' with this show was nothing to do with any of the stories, it was: "What if... this show was actually good?"
The MCU's first foray into animation has an absolutely irresistible premise: it told stories that reimagined the MCU's events had one thing been different... or at least, that's how it was marketed.
In fact, What If...? changes pretty much everything, with none of the characters acting like themselves, so the whole thing comes off as a bizarre fan fiction exercise that just feels off from the outset.
This would've felt more acceptable had the episodes been any good, but overwhelmingly, they weren't. With atrocious writing and pacing, gaping logic holes and stories that completely ruin virtually all of the beloved characters, all of the episodes (aside from Episode Seven, which was a little better) were complete disasters.
Hell, even the much-hyped Doctor Strange episode was terrible, since it butchered Doctor Strange's character and nothing about it's ending felt remotely earned.
Hot damn, this show simply SUCKED.
It's arguably the worst MCU product ever - that's right, it's even worse than Thor: The Dark World - and another strong sign that the MCU is going off the rails.
And unfortunately, season two's on the way.
