13 Incredible Looking Comic Book Movie Characters (That Actually Sucked)

1. Ghost Rider

Ghost Rider
Columbia Pictures

Played By: Nicolas Cage

It's still fairly astonishing that Nic Cage was given not one but TWO separate opportunities to play Ghost Rider, despite the fact that the first movie was an abominable misfire that completely misread the character. Even with Cage on flawless not-at-all self-aware form, the film's attempt to be likable and replace any real supernatural credentials with corny charm was a poor decision all round.

And Cage's Johnny Blaze moons around way too much, with the first film taking too long by half to get him into full Rider mode. By then, it's almost impossible to care about the plot-hole heavy story or the characters left kicking about, but by God did the flame-skulled anti-hero look good.

It can only have been his Meatloaf-album-cover brilliance that inspired anyone to have another go at making him a film star too, because the substance beneath the design was painfully missing.
