If you've seen any of his Scary Movie appearances or either of the Haunted House movies, there's a good chance you have a pretty tight handle on what Marlon Wayan's shtick is. He's a clown, all too frequently served by poor, puerile material that seeks to find the lowest common denominator. Fair play to him, he's found an audience for it, but it's by no means a good time for most people.

But if you can look past the gross-out gags and ear-bleeding high-pitched screaming that punctuates them, you might well remember a time when he was actually really great iun Darren Aronofsky's haunting Requiem For A Dream.

In it, he plays heroin addict Tyrone and he's as great in the role as he is insufferable elsewhere. His portrait of drug abuse is horribly authentic and his segue into desperation is subtle and gripping. It's hard not to be completely captivated as his world falls to pieces and it's stunning to think this is the same man behind White Girls and Little Man.
