13 Long-Delayed Film Projects We Wish Would Get Made Already

12. Old St. Louis

Originally Announced: July 2010 Status: Shelved indefinitely. Plot Details: A traveling salesman's life changes when his daughter comes back into his life. Why Has It Been Delayed? Vince Vaughn's busy schedule. Old St. Louis was supposed to be director David O. Russell's follow-up to his 2010 film The Fighter, with Vince Vaughn playing the lead. Once The Fighter was released and received tons of awards attention, news regarding Old St. Louis appeared to have died down. Russell moved on to make Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle; meanwhile, Vince Vaughn has gone on to make "comedy classics" such as The Watch, The Internship, and Delivery Man. So you might think that the attention David O. Russell received, after The Fighter became a solid hit, was the reason why this project was shelved - not true. Russell explained the delay with The Playlist back in December of 2012: "I wanted to make that happen, but own schedule kept us from not being able to do it and so then that's what happened with that." He may have been squandering his talent since 2005's The Wedding Crashers, but if there was ever a director that could revive Vince Vaughn's career, it would be David O. Russell. So let's make this movie happen.
