13 Long-Delayed Film Projects We Wish Would Get Made Already

11. Robopocalypse

robopocalypseOriginally Announced: October 2010 Status: Postponed indefinitely. Plot Details: Based on Daniel H. Wilson's novel, Robopocalypse takes place in the distant future when technology begins to turn against us. Robots known as Archos have taken over the world, nearly annihilating the human race and the remaining human survivors attempt to unite in order to fight back. Why Has It Been Delayed? Budget way too big, rewrites needed. Think about this: if everything were to have initially worked out, we could be seeing Steven Spielberg's Robopocalypse on April 25th of this year. That's when the movie was initially supposed to get released. Instead, Spielberg decided to postpone the film indefinitely back in January 2013, explaining that the script was not yet finished and, at that point, the movie was too expensive to produce. Spielberg was actually supposed to start Robopocalypse after he wrapped War Horse back in 2011, but once Daniel Day-Lewis got on board with Lincoln, Spielberg decided to push Robopocalypse back. So this has been a project on Spielberg's plate for quite some time, but don't think he's about to give up just yet. Spielberg told Entertainment Weekly, shortly after the project was postponed, "I found the personal way into Robopocalypse," he then added, "I'm starting on a new script and we'll have this movie back on its feet soon." Fingers crossed.
