13 Long-Delayed Film Projects We Wish Would Get Made Already

5. Mute

Originally Announced: June 2009 Status: To be published as a graphic novel first. Plot Details: "Mute is about a woman whose disappearance causes a mystery for her partner, a mute bartender. When she disappears, he has to go up against the city's gangsters." - producer Stuart Fenegan Why Has It Been Delayed? Budget issues. Mute was supposed to be Duncan Jones's follow-up to his 2009 film Moon, which starred Sam Rockwell. Thanks to how ambitious the project is, the director has had to shelve the project and has decided to turn it into a graphic novel instead. There's still hope that the success of the graphic novel would gather enough momentum so that we can get a film version, but that's assuming that it'll become successful in the first place. Jones has since moved on to direct Source Code and is currently in the middle of filming Warcraft, which is based on the popular video game series. Perhaps if the Warcraft movie becomes a box office hit, we can finally see Mute? Maybe, but since Warcraft does not come out until March 2016, it will be a long time before we find out whether this is to become a legitimate motion picture.
