13 Long-Delayed Film Projects We Wish Would Get Made Already

4. Frank Or Francis

Originally Announced: March 2011 Status: Indefinitely postponed. Plot Details: A Hollywood satire that centers on a feud between a film director and an online blogger. It's also supposed to be a musical. Why Has It Been Delayed? You guessed it - budget issues. Frank Or Francis was supposed to be Charlie Kaufman's long-awaited follow-up to his 2008 film Synecdoche, New York. It has been described as a highly-ambitious comedy musical that skewers both Hollywood and online film criticism. Seeing as how Synecdoche, New York was far from a hit with audiences, perhaps it's understandable why no studio wants to touch this movie. But, still, it's a real shame how quiet Charlie Kaufman has been over the years. He was a force to be reckoned with in the early 2000s. His success eventually lead to an improbable Oscar win for Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind in 2005, but one unfortunate box office bomb later, and Kaufman really seems to be struggling to get this movie made. There was a point when all of these actors were attached to the movie: Jack Black, Nicolas Cage, Steve Carell, Elizabeth Banks, Kevin Kline, Catherine Keener, Paul Reubens and Jacki Weaver... yet we probably won't ever see this happen. C'mon Hollywood!
