11. Not The Hero You Want... But Like, Do It For Your Daughter

It seems likely that Cassie Lang is going to be seriously ill at some point: she's shown twice in bed in the short trailer, and the emotionally loaded framing combined with Douglas' sentimental voice-over would seem to indicate that she is the emotional heart of the film. Sort of exactly like Sandman's daughter is in Spider-Man 3, but maybe don't mention that too loudly in case Marvel notice. Daughters are clearly going to play a key role: Hank is apparently estranged from his own because of the death of her mother (the implication being he was at fault) and Lang's is obviously the narrative lynch-pin. Clearly if Pym is using her to strong-arm Lang into helping him out, he also knows of a key to making her healthy, which is the reward for helping him deal with Darren Cross. And of course, Pym probably thinks that "saving the world" - whatever that means here - will help him be reunited with his own daughter, Hope. That's why the line about "second chances" is so loaded.
