12. Thor Actually WASN'T The First Alien To Invade Earth

Back in The Avengers, Nick Fury confirmed that the reason why SHIELD were using the Tesseract and HYDRA technology to develop weapons was because of concerns over what happened when Thor and the Destroyer fought in New Mexico. His exact words were as follows:

"Last year, Earth had a visit from another planet that had a grudge match that leveled a small town. We learned that only are we not alone, but we are hopelessly, hilariously outgunned."

But that's a lie, isn't it? Because this was far from Earth's first contact with aliens. It wasn't even the first public experience, since at least SOME bystanders witnessed the Kree/Skrull events in the 1990s.

Captain Marvel retcons Fury's statement out of existence and reshapes SHIELD's entire existence. They were aware of aliens as soon as Marvel and the Skrulls appeared and it wasn't even high-level classified information, since Coulson reports office gossip about Fury losing his eye to Kree torture.

Sure, there's a chance Fury was purposefully bending the truth, but that would be a disservice to Loki and Thor's role in The Avengers.
