13 Most Disappointing Movie Threequels

4. Return Of The Jedi

The Originals: George Lucas kickstarted a pop-culture phenomenon with 1977's original Star Wars, while taking the set-pieces and character work to bold new heights with the darker 1980 sequel The Empire Strikes Back.

The Threequel: Following Empire was never going to be easy, and though Return of the Jedi is an undeniably enjoyable film, it just lacks the finesse and sure-mindedness of its predecessors.

Boba Fett's death sucked, the Ewoks were annoying and represented Lucas pandering more to young children, and despite a strong close, it just wasn't as gripping as what came before.

It's still miles ahead of those damn prequels, though.
