13 Most Disappointing Movie Threequels

9. Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines

The Originals: James Cameron delivered two all-time classic sci-fi films with 1984's The Terminator and the indelible 1991 follow-up Terminator 2: Judgement Day, helping catapult Arnold Schwarzenegger to global fame while the series became a pervasive staple of pop-culture.

The Threequel: Arriving on a tidal wave of hype but without director James Cameron, T3 is by any other standard a pretty decent sci-fi actioner with entertaining action and solid performances...but following on from two of the genre's best-ever movies, it can't help but pale in comparison.

There's some super-goofy comic relief, the T-X feels like a step back from the T-1000, and some of the CGI is pretty dodgy too. It's still miles better than the rancid sequels that followed, though, and it's got one Hell of an ending.
