13 Most Ridiculous DCEU Controversies (So Far)

1. Superman Kills Zod

And finally, the controversy that's even bigger than the Batfleck reveal? The decision by Zack Snyder and writer David S. Goyer to have Superman kill General Zod at the end of Man of Steel.

Foaming fanboys just wouldn't stop bleating about this being too far divorced from Superman's nature in the comic books, but ignoring the fact that Snyder and Goyer clearly created the scene as a direct challenge to the black-and-white no-kill comic book morality that has no place in the "real world".

It's a clever scene that shows just how silly rigid no-kill rules are, and though Snyder absolutely went overboard by subsequently having Batman murder countless people in Batman v Superman, Supes killing Zod was a potent, powerful scene that actually further developed the hero in an interesting and provocative way.

There are many valid reasons to dislike Man of Steel, but this just felt like fans hating on everything simply for the sake of it, and because the scene contradicted their own facile, rose-tinted, seemingly completely fixed perception of the character.
