9. All The Ben Affleck Departure Rumours

One of the biggest continuing mysteries surrounding the DCEU is the status of Ben Affleck's involvement.

Following the release of Batman v Superman, rumours abounded that Affleck was deeply hurt by its reception and was looking for a way to quietly exit the franchise.

This was only further stirred up by his leaving the director's chair of the upcoming The Batman, and the announcement of a Flashpoint movie, which would provide an easy, in-universe explanation for his rumoured recasting.

It seems like every month or two there's a cycle of will-he-won't-he discussions, with hysterical DC obsessives claiming it's all false, while more cynical fans are already resigned to the idea that Justice League will be Affleck's last movie. The man himself meanwhile claims it's all good, and he's not going anywhere.

Either way, it's not the end of the world. It would be a shame if he left soon, but the world would keep turning, Batman would be recast, and everyone would get on with their lives. Is it really worth all this drama?
