13 Most Strongly Hinted Future Marvel Movies

1. Secret Invasion

Hints

The Skrulls are already in the MCU and will be uncovered properly when Captain Marvel's solo debut lands later this year. We know from the marketing and what's been revealed of the story that Marvel will be uncovering her own history but also the Skrull invasion of Earth.

That suggests that the studio are exploring the Secret Invasion story arc from the comics - at least a little - and that Carol Danvers will be at the forefront of uncovering how deep the infiltration goes. But since Captain Marvel goes AWOL at the end of her movie, something has to happen to trigger her "exile" and you wouldn't think that would be total victory against the Skrull. That sort of result doesn't really inspire thoughts of running away, so this story could reasonably overspill into its own event movie.

On top of that, Marvel need an all-encompassing narrative "event" that replaces the Infinity War thread throughout the fourth Phase and the uncovering of embedded Skrulls would definitely suit that.

Hopes

That they don't over-extend it into too many movies and run the risk of too much repetition. A few movies per event is definitely a good approach, but too many and we'd end up seeing lots of different characters essentially doing the same things, only in different locations within the MCU.

Other than that, channelling the same sort of anxiety that The Winter Soldier brought in would be a great approach too. The original "who can you trust" tagline from the comics lends itself to that wonderfully.
