It's no secret that Hollywood is propped up by sequels, and movie studios are always chasing the next big thing they can pimp out into a billion-dollar franchise.

But of course, not everything can be a tentpole sequel on the level of, say, a new Avengers movie or the next Fast and the Furious film, and some sequels fly low enough you might not even realise they actually got made.

These 13 sequels are not movies the masses were begging for, but because reasons that aren't quite clear, someone nevertheless felt that their existence was worthwhile and, moreover, profitable.

To be clear, not all of these films are awful or even bad - though most of them definitely are - but it simply baffles that each actually went before cameras and ended up being released.

Unless you're a real lover of DTV trash, you'll likely have no idea most of these movies are out in the wild, or perhaps that they're even part of a multi-movie, long-spanning franchise.
