You'd be forgiven for not even realising that there was a single sequel to the 2002 Dwayne Johnson-starring The Mummy spin-off The Scorpion King, but believe it or not, there are now four sequels.
The fifth film in the franchise was released - straight-to-video, of course - late last year, and cast Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D star Zach McGowan in the role of Mathayus, making him the fourth actor to play the titular hero (following Johnson, Michael Copon and Victor Webster).
It's more impressive than anything that the series has survived to this point, and honestly, these movies are goofy and harmless enough that they're tough to get too mad about.
They're corny, dumb adventure movies with mediocre action and so-so performances, but they hardly besmirch the dubious legacy of Johnson's original film. If you're in the mood for some low-budget silliness, you could do far worse.
Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes).
