What We Knew

Back In January 2018, Collider revealed the news that Deadpool's Tim Miller was "hard at work developing a solo movie for the famous phasing member of the X-Men, Kitty Pryde", which he would potentially direct. They stated at the time that "Kitty Pryde movie is very much in development at Fox by Miller at the moment, but even without the expected merger valued at $52.4 billion, a movie that’s in development doesn’t necessarily end up going into production."

But they did say that Miller's involvement suggested that it was a real possibility. He's not the kind of director to just "wait and see" so this solo movie did look like it was happening.

Why It Was Cancelled & The Future

Ultimately, it was cancelled along with the other Fox projects.

Like Multiple Man, it wouldn't be one Disney would launch with, either, as much as the MCU needs more female-led solo movies. And though Miller was a great hire, it's just a case of what might have been.
