13 Movies That Are Destined To Disappoint In 2019
12. Men In Black: International
Though on paper the idea of soft-rebooting the Men in Black franchise with Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson isn't bad by any means, didn't the first trailer for Men in Black: International just come off a little, well, flat?
Yes, a lot of the expected elements are there: the suits, the wacky aliens, the elaborate visual effects, but it still doesn't really feel enough like an actual Men in Black movie.
It registers more like a mechanical blockbuster - basically, it feels like Men in Black 2. Also, lot of the fun of the original trilogy was the mismatched pairing of Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, but don't Hemsworth and Thompson feel a little too comfortable with one another? And Thor: Ragnarok is definitely to blame for that.
From the rote dialogue to the dodgy CGI backgrounds, it just looks like a workmanlike effort rather than a film that's going to live up to the brilliance of the original or even the rock solid calibre of the third MIB.
