13 Movies That Came Out With Perfect Timing

2. Straight Outta Compton Releases Amid "Black Lives Matter" Protests

The Movie: A biopic of the seminal rap group N.W.A. chronicling their meteoric rise and sudden fall, pitted largely against the backdrop of the 1992 Los Angeles riots. The Release: The film's 2015 release perfectly coincided with the heating up of the Black Lives Matter campaign, which sought to highlight black deaths at the hands of law enforcement, racial profiling, police brutality and racial inequality. Considering that all of these subjects are powerfully broached by the movie, it's not too surprising that the film massively over-performed at the box office, grossing just shy of $200 million worldwide. Plus, the group's iconic anthem "F*** tha Police" gave an entirely new generation of protesters a marching tune.
