13 Movies That Came Out With Perfect Timing

1. The China Syndrome Comes Out 12 Days Before The Three Mile Island Nuclear Accident

The Movie: The 1979 classic drama follows a TV news reporter (Jane Fonda) and her cameraman (Michael Douglas) as they uncover safety violations at a nuclear power plant, which the plant then attempts to cover up. The Release: The movie came out on March 12 of that year and, just 12 days later, one of the Three Mile Island nuclear reactors encountered a partial meltdown, leading to a billion dollar cleanup operation and major public outcry about the apparent safety of nuclear power. Adding to the film's eerie timeliness is a line in which a physicist mentions that a nuclear meltdown could cause "an area the size of Pennsylvania" to be uninhabitable, shocking considering that Three Mile Island is itself situated in Pennsylvania. The film was a major success, pulling in almost 10x its budget worldwide, which many attribute to its real-world relevance, even though to their credit, Columbia tried to exploit the Three Mile Island incident as little as possible, even pulling its release from some cinemas. In wake of the incident, Fonda went on to become an anti-nuclear activist. Are there any other movies released with timing this insanely good? Shout them out in the comments!
