13 Movies That Destroyed Solo: A Star Wars Story At The Box Office

Box Office: $425.7 million

If someone told you six months ago that a movie starring Dwayne Johnson as a primatologist who teams up with a genetically-engineered gorilla to battle a giant crocodile and oversized wolf would outgross Solo at the box office, you'd probably tell them to put the crack pipe down.

Well, that's exactly what happened. Somehow.

A testament to the benefits of a "modest" budget, the $120-ish million Rampage easily tripled its budget (and then some) thanks to the inherent appeal of Dwayne Johnson, and a knowingly daft premise.

While it was easy enough to predict solid success for Rampage, nobody in their right mind would've pegged it topping Solo, with even pessimistic projections expecting around $600 million. Oof.
