13 Movies That Destroyed Solo: A Star Wars Story At The Box Office
10. Warcraft
Box Office: $433.7 million
Warcraft was without question one of 2016's most anticipated blockbusters, spending $160 million on adapting the iconic, much-loved video game to the big screen with reliable director (at the time) Duncan Jones at the helm.
As it turned out, Warcraft was a bit rubbish, causing it to under-perform at the box office, falling short of its $450 million break-even threshold, even if it remains the highest-grossing video game adaptation to date.
Warcraft tanked at the domestic box office, grossing just $47.3 million in North America (compared to Solo's $211.9 million so far), but an insane performance in China - where it made $213.5 million (49.2% of its total gross) - nevertheless pushed it firmly out of bomb territory.
With all the hand-wringing surrounding Warcraft's disappointing performance, what does it say about Solo, which grossed far less and cost $115 million more (largely due to those pesky re-shoots)?
