13 Movies That Should've Ended 5 Minutes Earlier
3. Road To Perdition
How It Ended: After Michael (Tom Hanks) saves his son Michael Jr. from Maguire (Jude Law), he dies in his son's arms from wounds sustained moments earlier. In the epilogue, Michael Jr. goes to stay with the elderly childless couple seen earlier in the film, and notes that he hasn't touched a gun since the day his dad died.
How It Should've Ended: The ending just feels a little too tacked on, spoon-feeding the audience every morsel of subtext and denying any ambiguity whatsoever.
Ending with Michael Jr. cradling his father and leaving it up in the air whether or not he adopts his father's violent ways would've been a lot more provocative, if also less crowd-pleasing in a mainstream sense.
