13 Movies That Should've Ended 5 Minutes Earlier

2. The Dark Knight Rises

How It Ended: After Batman "dies" by detonating the nuclear bomb out over the ocean, he's euologised by Jim Gordon, John Blake inherits the Batcave, and of course, Alfred finds out that Bruce is very much alive, living in Florence with Selina Kyle.

How It Should've Ended: There's so much clunk in those final five minutes (the shot of Batman in the Bat's cockpit 5 seconds before it explodes, John Blake's real name being Robin, the autopilot software patch, Bruce sitting in a cafe in plain sight) that you may as well just ditch the lot of it.

Batman's death could've had some real meaning here, but instead Nolan opted for a bait and switch ending which dragged itself out for about 5 minutes before revealing his true fate.

Concluding on a truly somber note would've ended Nolan's Dark Knight Saga in unforgettably audacious fashion rather than, well, ending up a bit corny.
