13 Movies You Won't Believe Are Being Rebooted Already
9. Day Of The Dead
The Original: George A. Romero's 1985 horror classic might be the weakest entry of the first three Living Dead movies, but it's still a total blast, and has endured as an indelible cult classic, as well as a critical and commercial success at the time of release. In 2005, a direct-to-video sequel, Day of the Dead 2: Contagium, was released, albeit with nobody involved from the original, and inevitably, the film was ripped to shreds by the few who even bothered to watch it. 2008 saw the release of a Day of the Dead remake, starring Ving Rhames and Mena Suvari, but bearing little resemblance to the original film. Despite a sizeable $18 million budget, the film fell victim to the critical horde and failed to turn heads at the box office, going direct-to-video in most territories. Time Since The Last Movie: 6 years, 7 months The Reboot: Last year, a second reboot was announced, with the producers of the awful Texas Chainsaw 3D behind it, though they claim it will remain faithful to Romero's original vision. It's in the very early writing stages right now, so don't expect to hear much on this one for a little while (hopefully, anyway).
