13 Movies You Loved As A Child (But Hate As An Adult)

2. Harry And The Hendersons (1987)

Even as a child, Harry and The Hendersons was something of a Sunday watch, with its intended audience never encouraged to take the film too seriously. It did boast enough charm to turn it into something of a cult kiddy pleasure, though. While on vacation in the Pacific Northwest, the Henderson family accidentally run over what they assume to be a grizzly bear with their car. They take the beast home, where they plan to stuff it for display in their living room, though when the creature comes around they suddenly realise they have just taken a Sasquatch in as a pet. The main problem with Harry And The Hendersons is that, over the years that have passed since it was released, Harry has become unconvincing and incredibly annoying. John Lithgow does his best to keep things respectable as the dutiful George Henderson, but is ultimately overshadowed by Kevin Peter Hall in an uninspired Bigfoot costume. Harry's ridiculous loping gait can be excused as an attempt to mimic the famous Bigfoot sighting footage, but the clumsy animatronics and goofy grin leave you wishing The Hendersons had been travelling about 20mph faster, just to make sure.

Phil still hasn't got round to writing a profile yet, as he has an unhealthy amount of box sets on the go.
