13 Movies You Loved As A Child (But Hate As An Adult)

1. Teen Wolf (1985)

Teen Wolf has always been hilarious from start to finish, though not every laughable moment was actually intended to amuse. The film introduces us to Scott Howard for the first time, a high school nerd who is as useless on the basketball court as he is in his pursuit of his dream girl, but little does he know that he carries a hereditary secret - lycanthropy. As he becomes stronger and hairier, his skills on the court and his chances with Lisa improve, though he will have to go full-on wolf if he is to defeat the bully basketball team and win the hand of their captain's girlfriend. This film sat on the shelf for quite some time after completion, and it may have never saw the light of day had it not been for the massive success of Back To The Future. Michael J. Fox was turned into a hot property overnight, and distributors ARC didn't hesitate to take their formulaic, forgettable and at times cringe-worthy property and cash in on it. Watching back as an adult, you get the sense that the overwhelming theme is the pain and social anguish of puberty, and like puberty, nobody should have to go through Teen Wolf twice. Which other nostalgia soaked films don't deserve to be as loved as they are? Share your picks below in the comments thread.

Phil still hasn't got round to writing a profile yet, as he has an unhealthy amount of box sets on the go.
