13 Outrageously Awful 2015 Performances That Deserve Razzies
4. Wei Tang - Blackhat
The Role: Networking engineer Chen Lien, who attempts to help hacker Hathaway (Chris Hemsworth) as he hunts down an intricate, worldwide cyber-crime syndicate. Why It's So Awful: Tang's unfortunately poor grasp of English is distracting throughout the film, and makes it blatantly obvious that she's reading her lines phonetically from cue cards, which naturally makes them seem hilariously wooden. This is not only deeply troublesome whenever she has to explain the plot, but it also completely derails her romance with Hemsworth's protagonist, ensuring they have no chemistry and making it all feel very forced. Then there's the fact that many of her lines were quite obviously re-dubbed in post-production, badly enough that they don't even sync up properly. Given the litany of Chinese actresses who can actually speak English well, why on Earth did Michael Mann settle on Tang?
