13 Overlooked Films From Famous Directors

10. Steven Spielberg - The Adventures Of Tintin

Inherent Vice
Paramount Pictures

He might be cool to hate these days, but like it or not Steven Spielberg is the man. He's both a skilled entertainer and a brilliant filmmaker who deserves every cent of his vast fortune and he is responsible for some incredible classics. None of these have come from the 21st century though and it does seem his best days are behind him. People will debate about what his best film since 2000 is but unfortunately many will say it's the overrated Ready Player One.

Spielberg made a far better blockbuster back in 2011: The Adventures of Tintin. He was always the perfect choice to adapt Herge's brilliant comic series and he didn't disappoint. The spirit, charm and thrills of the books are fully realized and the characters are brought to life in wonderful fashion, making this the Tintin film we'd always wanted.

Boasting masterful set-pieces and an irresistible sense of fun, this is a real display of Spielberg's blockbuster brilliance. It's sad how little attention it gets given how spiritually similar it is to many of Spielberg's other blockbusters (Particularly Indiana Jones) and how much more interesting it is than some of his recent Oscar-Bait films.
