13 Predictions For Next Summer's Biggest Movies
3. Charlie's Angels Pulls A Ghostbusters, Bombs Despite Positive Reviews
Prediction: Releasing at the tail-end of next summer, the Elizabeth Banks-directed Charlie's Angels reboot is already giving off a Ghostbusters 2016 vibe, in that it'll end up a reboot nobody really asked for that, despite decent reviews, craters at the box office.
The casting of Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott and Ella Balinska in the lead roles isn't massively alluring, and unless the film boasts some absolutely electrifying trailers, it's hard to see a casual audience latching onto it.
Why It Might Not Happen: If the budget is kept sensible - far away from Ghostbusters' ludicrous $144 million price tag - it could be a modest success on the level of the recent Ocean's 8, which kept its costs low-ish and performed solidly as a result.
Plus, as much as people love to make fun of Kristen Stewart, perhaps she'll turn in a surprise comedy role here that catches everyone off-guard.
