9. The New Mutants' Theatrical Release Is Cancelled

Prediction: Some admittedly unreliable rumours have been doing the rounds lately that, amid the Disney-Fox merger, the theatrical releases of Dark Phoenix and The New Mutants may end up cancelled in order to avoid harming the X-Men brand ahead of its inevitable addition to the MCU.

While it's incredibly unlikely that a movie as expensive as Dark Phoenix won't land in cinemas, it's easier to believe that the riskier, lower-budget and more problem-riddled New Mutants will end up released on Netflix or Disney's own planned streaming service.

With New Mutants not due to release until next August, that's plenty of time for the Disney-Fox merger to be finalised and for the film's release strategy to be adjusted accordingly.

Why It Might Not Happen: Though the film's budget has been obscenely bloated out by re-shoots and delays, Fox and Disney may still see some value in releasing it theatrically, especially as its cast of characters are miles away from the core X-Men brand and therefore shouldn't be able to harm it much.

Above all else, maybe, just maybe, those re-shoots actually fixed all of the movie's problems. Stranger things have happened...
