13 Predictions For Next Summer's Biggest Movies

6. MIB Successfully Reinvents The Franchise

Prediction: Though it's easy to be cynical about studios shamelessly rebooting hit movie franchises left and right, it's actually pretty easy to be optimistic about the upcoming Men in Black retooling, if only because of the sheer amount of talent attached to it.

In addition to Thor and Valkyie themselves starring - that's Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson - it's got a cracking supporting cast including Liam Neeson, Kumail Nanjiani, a returning Emma Thompson and Rafe Spall.

That's not to forget that the rock solid F. Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton, The Fate of the Furious) is handling directing duties. All of this could easily add up to a pleasant surprise that expands the MIB mythology without trampling over Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones' prior efforts.

Why It Might Not Happen: The main roadblock is the inconsistent scripting efforts of Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, who are responsible for both Iron Man and Transformers: The Last Knight. These films are virtual polar opposites in quality, so whether they bring their A-game here or not is basically a coin flip.
