13 Silly Mistakes You Won't Believe Made It Into Star Trek Movies

11. Kirk Fails The Gunshow

Star Trek The Search For Spock
CBS

In Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, when the Enterprise finally arrives back at Earth, the crew head to Admiral Kirk's apartment to toast Spock's death. During that toast, Sarek, Spock's father, arrives and demands to speak to Kirk alone. Jumping to attention, the rest of the crew file out.

Sarek is there to berate Kirk for leaving Spock's body behind on Genesis, despite his death. Kirk understandably counters that there was no reason not to leave his body, due to his death. There follows an extremely interesting discussion about Vulcan mythology and yet more strange attributes to the species. However, audiences can be forgiven for being distracted.

It was well known that Kirk was a collector of antiques, however, the magical moving gun is one of the lesser-known historical artefacts. In the above image, you can see an example of how they change position on the wall. Clearly Mark Lenard's scene was filmed at a different time to William Shatner's and in the eighties, it was a bit harder to simply take a picture on your phone to ensure continuity.
