13 Things Hollywood Always Gets Wrong About Film Fans

12. We Follow The Movie Stars

We all love our Hollywood royalty: those actors an audience would follow straight into a burning mass of garbage, over and over, sequel after sequel. But let's face it: those days are coming to an end. Think back, as recently as even 5 or 10 years ago, when knowing an actor was in any given film or genre, would instantly cause your ears to perk and your excitement to swell. Not anymore. With the exception of a few choice actors (Brad Pitt, Tom Hanks, Robert Downey Jr, and possibly Jennifer Lawrence as the newest entry), very few actors can guarantee a film's success anymore on their own (with the other obvious exception being if they're someone like Justin Bieber.) And yet, Hollywood continues to pay them obscene amounts of money, hoping they drive in the masses to their latest cinematic opus. Have any of the countless comic adaptations, recent franchises or just cinematic blockbusters featuring nobodies woke them up to the current truth yet? Audiences just do not care anymore. We as an audience enjoy most of these actors, sure, but do we like them all enough to guarantee we will throw away $40 a pop for a chance to see them on the big screen? Nope. Marvel is a prime example - they continue to just plug any actor into a role, put creative people BEHIND the camera...and voila! They have a hit. So save your pennies, Hollywood. 90% of these overpaid runway models are just not enough to drag our butts to the theater anymore. Spend that money on those nifty special effects, because audiences worldwide will always enjoy those.
