13 Things Hollywood Always Gets Wrong About Film Fans

11. Audiences Do Not Care About 3D... Unless They Have Kids

If you polled several of your friends and asked them what the one thing movies keep doing that they couldn't care any less about? There is a better than average chance a largely repeated answer would be 3D. It's probably not because they do not appreciate the spectacle of someone lunging a spear at their face or the irresistible beauty of Sandra Bullock in a spacesuit, but it's just that 3D has become a passing fad. It has become a lather, rinse, repeat style of filmmaking and frankly, audiences are done with it. Avatar was great, and visually amazing, and watching this new technology unfold before our virgin eyes was simply a breathtaking experience, but what's really been added to the experience since then? 3D has become just a useless and needless expense that only entertains the kiddies anymore. This seems obvious due to the complete lack of success in adult films (See Dredd), yet Hollywood continues to crank them out with assembly line precision. Continue to add your third dimension to those lovely Pixar films or other movies where our precious children are a huge part of the demographic, because frankly we live to keep them happy (or at least quiet for a little while.) Just keep it out of everything else unless you can add something new, because frankly paying audiences are tired of it.
