13 Things That Would Have Happened After 2016 Movies Ended

12. Mystique & Magneto Disappear - X-Men: Apocalypse

Apocalypse concluded with Magneto (Michael Fassbender) leaving the X-Mansion to parts unknown, while Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) trains the younger X-Men in the Danger Room.

There's been a lot of talk about whether Fassbender, Lawrence and James McAvoy will actually be returning for any more movies now that their three movies are done, and honestly, this seems like a pretty convenient leaping-off point, considering how Apocalypse introduced so many young new heroes to take up the mantle.

Magneto has basically been written out anyway, and considering that Lawrence is famously not-so-keen on playing Mystique anymore, it wouldn't be much effort to say that she'd finished training up the young mutants and disappeared into the night.

It makes sense for McAvoy's Xavier to stick around though, as a sage mentor and because, of course, the X-Mansion is his creation.

A lot is up in the air regarding the future of the X-Men series, but with Fassbender and especially Lawrence likely out of the picture from now on, this is an easy way to write them out for the time being, until they're inevitably recast.
