13 Things You Didn't Know About Friday The 13th Part 2

5. The Final Girl Was Completely Freaked Out All The Time

Friday The 13th Part 2
Paramount Pictures

Amy ‘Ginny’ Steel, the movie’s final girl, remembers being completely unnerved throughout the whole shoot. The majority of the production involved night shooting, which is often disorienting, and even between takes she'd frequently be surrounded by actors in bloody, gory prosthetics while struggling to keep the requisite fear levels amped up for when the camera rolled.

That means that in many ways, the fear you see on screen was real. Steve Dash remembers Steel being so terrified during his scenes with her that some scenes needed reshooting simply because she was running too fast and missing her marks, one of which would result in that ER visit to treat broken ribs.

For that climactic scene where Jason bursts through the window behind Ginny and drags her away, Steel was completely freaked out, having to act as though she didn’t know what was about to happen behind her while secretly dreading it.

The window was mocked up, of course - made of plastic and balsa wood, with a three-step platform built outside of the house for Warrington Gillette to take a half-running leap at the window. The deal was that Gillette was only supposed to have one crack at it; but the first time he didn't break the fake glass, hurting his head.

When Miner broke it to Steel the following day that they needed to reshoot it, she was not happy and had to be talked into doing it again.
