4. Jason’s Prosthetics Were Hell On Earth To Wear

Warrington Gillette played the unmasked Jason Voorhees in that final scene under a mountain of prosthetics, and has waxed lyrical about the problems inherent in the make-up job.

For a start, there was a heavy wig, two sets of dentures and rubber forms glued all over the face and the right side of the head. However, Carl Fullerton's redesign of Jason's uniquely distorted facial structure meant that Gillette's eye had to be completely closed off and a fake eye created that sat on his cheek.

The prosthetics started out as merely uncomfortable: after a few hours, 'uncomfortable' had progressed to 'bloody painful', and the lack of depth perception made the stunt work he was required to do problematic, to say the least.

By the time he was asked to bust through the window and maul Amy Steel, Gillette was in agony, seriously p*ssed off and dangerously close to method acting the hillbilly serial killer:

"I was angry and I wanted to kill somebody... you are just in another world, you're hurting, you're pained, you wanted to blast through that window and kill this girl. No question!"
