11. Taylor Swift (Best Supporting Actress - Cats)

The Role: Bombalurina, the flirtatious red female cat best remembered for her solo in the iconic musical's song "Macavity the Mystery Cat."

Now, this is a real long shot, but stranger things have most certainly happened at the Oscars.

Tom Hooper's adaptation of legendary musical Cats is still very much a question mark in regard to its production and how the overall project is shaping up, but it's been confirmed that the cats will feature a CGI element of some kind, rather than merely dressing A-list actors up in furry catsuits.

The Academy proved with Jennifer Hudson's 2007 Best Supporting Actress Oscar win for Dreamgirls that they're not above giving a singer an Oscar for, uh, singing, and given the rather frothy nature of Swift's role in the film, she could end up with an Oscar if she turns up the charm sufficiently.

She's definitely an outside possibility given her near-total lack of acting experience, not to mention the rather risky nature of the film's style and tone, but she's certainly not beyond shocking the world with a genuinely great performance.
