13 Unlikely Movies That Might Exist 10 Years From Now
6. The Man Who Killed Don Quixote
Why It's Unlikely: Because Terry Gilliam, the filmmaking soldier that he is, has been aggressively attempting to get his adaptation of Miguel de Cervantes's novel made since 1998, and despite shooting even beginning with Johnny Depp in 2000, it's never been completed.
The Depp project collapsed amid a disastrous start to shooting, and most recently, production was set to gear up at the end of 2016 with Michael Palin and Adam Driver starring, but in October, funding fell through once again. Plus, Gilliam is 76 years old, and so the window to feasibly get the film made is closing fast.
Why It Might Happen: Gilliam's sheer committed force of will is rather inspiring, and it's possible that his perseverance may well pay off in the next few years.
Plus, even if Gilliam dies before getting to make it, it's entirely possible another filmmaker could take over from his script (unquestionably bittersweet though that would be).
